KONG Sometimes, a band's brilliance can only be seen in a live setting. The band may pack a heaping amount of energy into the recording studio, and even put together a great record, but in the end, the only way you can really come to appreciate the band and their music is by seeing them perform live. With Do the Awesome, NYC's Bling Kong has made their attempt to pack one of the most intense live bands into recorded form. The result, although good, does not come close to the live, but does feature some great tracks, with a couple fun little cheers in between. Lyrics like "This is the time/The time to make out/Turn to your left and give that person a handjob..., " (A Song I Know) may make you want to pass them off as a joke, but their musical execution, mixing Judas Priest with The Go Go's, solidifes their validity as a promising young act that should be destined for great things.
