Volta
Amputechture
Some say that the Mars
Volta are rock's saviors, huge complicated '70s prog-rock, in a
time where the music world is focused in the opposite direction.
Others say that the Mars Volta are a big overindulgent monster and
a major disapointment after the magic that was At The Drive In.
One thing's certain, this band has immense talent and puts it all
out there to be seen, despite current trends and the words of critics.
That is exactly why the Mars Volta are one of the most interesting
bands alive. They write their own rules, and if they want
to make an album filled with overindulgent songs clocking in at
over 15 minutes ("Tetragrammaton"), they will.
That being said, Amputechture is less memorable than their
first two records, despite an even larger more complicated sound.
