The Mighty Ocean & Nine Dark Theaters sounds like nothing and everything all at once. It's bizarre, ecclectic, all over the place, and yet entirely consistent in its very original sound. Imagine Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse) rapping over outerspace folk beats. But not all of it is spat out in rhythmic hip-hop style. Instead, plenty of the album is full of indie rock style vocals. Confused? So am I. But really, it all comes together as an impressive genre-hopping record from a music unknown. standout tracks: "My Dinner with Andy " and "Seaweed Sheets" |
